"A Place of Healing: Wrestling with the Mysteries of Suffering, Pain and God's Sovereignty" is the latest work by Joni Eareckson Tada, founder of the international disability ministry Joni and Friends. Joni became a quadriplegic at the age of 17 -- more than 40 years ago -- after a diving accident the summer before she was due to enter college. As a young adult, she came to terms with her faith and the fact that God's answers to her prayers for healing would come in different ways. She became accustomed to life lived from her wheelchair and remained grateful that God was using her to minister to hundreds of thousands of people around the world. However, in recent years, Joni was struck anew with a need for physical healing. She began experiencing unrelenting, excruciating pain. Once again, God's answer to her prayer for healing seemed to be "no." In this new book, Joni transparently shares her journey through this new experience with pain, through her continued faith and trust in a God who can heal but sometimes chooses not to.
